relevance and its relationship with some of the major questions of our time.

The lectures will explore themes such as human dignity, the common good, the relationship between the two cities, and education for peace, paying particular attention to Saint Augustine’s spiritual and intellectual legacy in the teaching of Pope Leo XIV.

Lecture programme

All lectures will take place at the Meeting Room of the Municipal Library in Sansepolcro, to explore the continuing relevance of De civitate Dei, a work in which Saint Augustine develops a profound reflection on the meaning of history, human coexistence, and the orientation of individual and collective life.

The themes of human dignity, the common good, and peace offer a framework for bringing the heritage of Augustinian thought into dialogue with contemporary social challenges, connecting philosophy, theology, and civic responsibility.

Through its From the Scientific Community section, the Centro Studi Internazionale Leone XIV highlights this educational initiative, acknowledging its relevance to the Centre’s fields of study and
