From 3 November to 1 December 2026, the Institute for Ecumenical Studies \u201cSan Bernardino\u201d in Venice will host Christian Fundamentalisms? Understanding and Looking Beyond<\/em>, a series of five online meetings exploring fundamentalist interpretations of Christianity and their implications for contemporary religious and social life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The initiative is organized by Simone Morandini<\/strong>, Deputy Director of the Institute, President of the Secretariat for Ecumenical Activities (SAE), and member of the Scientific Committee of the Leo XIV International Study Centre<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among the speakers are Massimo Faggioli<\/strong>, historian at Villanova University and also a member of the Centre’s Scientific Committee, and Debora Spini<\/strong>, political philosopher at New York University in Florence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From our scientific network<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The initiative highlights the ongoing contribution of scholars connected to the Leo XIV International Study Centre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Morandini and Faggioli served as conveners at the international workshop Let Everything Be Yours in Common. The Frontiers of Poverty<\/em>, held in Rome on 16\u201317 September 2026. Debora Spini also participated as a speaker.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new series addresses five themes: Church, Scripture, Nation, Men, Women and Family, and Apocalypticism and Holy War. Each meeting brings together different perspectives to encourage critical reflection and ecumenical dialogue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Practical information<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The five meetings will take place online via Google Meet, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. (Italian time)<\/strong>, on 3, 10, 17 and 24 November and 1 December 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All sessions will be conducted in Italian.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
