The Leone XIV Study Centre is structured through an organisational framework composed of governing bodies and committees that guide its scientific, cultural, and administrative activities. Each body performs specific functions within the mission of the Centre, in continuity with the spiritual and intellectual heritage of the Augustinian Community of Santo Spirito in Florence.
The organisational model follows a modern academic structure, with responsibilities distributed among governing functions, scientific committees, and advisory bodies, ensuring quality, transparency, and methodological rigour in all promoted activities.
Governing Bodies of the Study Centre
The governing bodies of the Leone XIV Study Centre ensure scientific direction, institutional coordination, and the definition of cultural and academic strategies. They play a central role in planning activities, maintaining relations with the Augustinian Community of Santo Spirito, and supervising committees and research initiatives.
President of the Study Centre

The President represents the Centre, coordinates its institutional and cultural activities, and ensures overall coherence with the mission and values of the Augustinian Community of Santo Spirito.
Scientific Director

The Scientific Director oversees the research programme and supervises projects, publications, and the academic activities of the Centre, ensuring methodological rigour and high scholarly standards.
Pending its formal establishment, the role of Scientific Director is currently carried out by the Prior of the Augustinian Community of Florence, Father Giuseppe Pagano.
Governing Board
The Governing Board defines the strategic guidelines of the Centre, approves the annual activity plan, and coordinates the work of the committees, ensuring the proper implementation of scientific objectives and the overall coherence of initiatives.
Committees of the Study Centre
The committees of the Leone XIV Study Centre support the governing bodies in activities of guidance, evaluation, and development of research initiatives, third mission activities, and relations with the local community. Each committee operates with specific functions, in constant dialogue with the Augustinian Community of Santo Spirito and with the cultural and academic institutions involved.
The composition and expertise of the committees ensure a plurality of perspectives, high scholarly standards, and close attention to local and international needs, in coherence with the cultural and spiritual vocation of the Centre.
Local Committee
The Local Committee oversees relations with the city of Florence, the Santo Spirito district, and local institutions, promoting shared initiatives and fostering the participation of the civic community in the activities of the Centre.
Scientific Committee
The Scientific Committee evaluates and guides research lines, study programmes, publications, and academic collaborations, ensuring methodological rigour and scientific relevance in the Centre’s activities.
Honorary Committee
The Honorary Committee brings together distinguished figures from the academic, ecclesial, and cultural spheres who lend their symbolic support to the Centre, contributing to the enhancement of its profile, mission, and rootedness within the national and international context.
External Relations Committee
The External Relations Committee oversees relations with universities, research centres, foundations, and partner institutions at both national and international levels, fostering agreements, collaborative networks, and joint projects.
Finance Committee
The Finance Committee supports the Centre’s financial planning and monitors the sustainability of its activities, the management of resources, and the pursuit of funding, in accordance with the principles of transparency and accountability.
Secretariat Staff
The Secretariat Staff provides operational support to the activities of the Leone XIV Study Centre, ensuring administrative, organisational, digital, and communication coordination among the governing bodies, the committees, and the Augustinian Community of Santo Spirito. Pending the formal establishment of the Centre, the role of Secretary is currently carried out by Dr Giulia Bacci.
