Research, Education, and Cultural Engagement
The Leone XIV International Study Centre ETS develops its activities in accordance with the purposes set forth in its Statute and in continuity with the Augustinian intellectual tradition and the Social Doctrine of the Church.
Through research projects, educational initiatives, public events, publications, and academic partnerships, the Centre promotes interdisciplinary reflection on the major challenges of contemporary society, encouraging dialogue among academia, institutions, ecclesial communities, and civil society.
The Centre’s activities are organised around five principal areas.
Research
The Centre promotes scientific research of particular social relevance, encouraging collaboration among scholars from different disciplines, cultural traditions, and geographical contexts.
Particular attention is devoted to public life, international relations, peacebuilding, cooperation among peoples, integral human development, and the Social Doctrine of the Church.
Research activities may take the form of scientific projects, study groups, research reports, publications, and initiatives developed in partnership with universities and research institutions.
Education
Education constitutes one of the central dimensions of the Centre’s mission.
Through courses, workshops, seminars, and training programmes, the Centre seeks to provide cultural and methodological tools to those who wish to better understand contemporary society and contribute responsibly to public life.
Special attention is given to younger generations, educators, social practitioners, members of ecclesial communities, and all those interested in exploring the themes of the common good, citizenship, and civic participation.
Seminars, Conferences, and Workshops
The Centre organises national and international conferences, seminars, lectures, and workshops dedicated to the themes addressed by its academic and cultural activities.
These events provide opportunities for dialogue among scholars, public officials, institutional representatives, social actors, and citizens, fostering interaction between academic reflection and practical experience.
Among the initiatives promoted by the Centre are its international workshops, developed in cooperation with universities and partner institutions.
Publications and Cultural Outreach
The Centre promotes the dissemination of knowledge through publications, conference proceedings, educational materials, scientific contributions, and digital content.
Public outreach forms an integral part of the Centre’s mission and seeks to make the results of research and educational activities accessible to a broader audience.
Partnerships and International Networks
The Centre develops and supports relationships with universities, ecclesiastical faculties, research institutes, public bodies, cultural organisations, and international institutions.
Through agreements, partnerships, and joint projects, it contributes to the development of an international network of research and education capable of encouraging the exchange of expertise, the circulation of ideas, and the implementation of shared initiatives.
Serving the Common Good
All activities of the Leone XIV International Study Centre ETS are oriented toward the promotion of human dignity, social responsibility, dialogue, and the pursuit of the common good.
In this perspective, the Centre seeks to serve as a meeting place for research, education, and public engagement, contributing to the development of a culture capable of addressing the challenges of the contemporary world with competence, responsibility, and openness to dialogue.
