The Leo XIV International Study Center ETS joins the Augustinian family in profound sorrow following the sudden death of Fr Severino Bussino, a member of the Augustinian Community of Santo Spirito in Florence and a figure of particular importance to the Study Center.
Fr Severino died on the morning of Friday, 26 June, at the age of 69, following a sudden illness while he was staying at the Augustinian Community of Sant’Agostino in Campo Marzio in Rome.
A professor in the Department of Physics at Roma Tre University and a dedicated scholar of Sacred Scripture, Fr Severino combined intellectual depth and academic rigor with extraordinary humility, generosity and a profound human and spiritual sensitivity.
His death is a great loss for the entire Augustinian family, for the Community of Santo Spirito and for all those who had the privilege of knowing him and sharing part of their journey with him.
The President, the Board of Directors, the members of the Committees and the members of the Study Center remember him with gratitude and affection and entrust him to the mercy of the Lord, confident that he may now rest beside our Holy Father Augustine and our Holy Mother Monica.
The funeral will be celebrated on Saturday, 27 June, at 3:00 p.m., in the Basilica of Sant’Agostino in Campo Marzio, Rome.
