From 3 November to 1 December 2026, the Institute for Ecumenical Studies “San Bernardino” in Venice will host Christian Fundamentalisms? Understanding and Looking Beyond, a series of five online meetings exploring fundamentalist interpretations of Christianity and their implications for contemporary religious and social life.
The initiative is organized by Simone Morandini, Deputy Director of the Institute, President of the Secretariat for Ecumenical Activities (SAE), and member of the Scientific Committee of the Leo XIV International Study Centre.
Among the speakers are Massimo Faggioli, historian at Villanova University and also a member of the Centre’s Scientific Committee, and Debora Spini, political philosopher at New York University in Florence.

The new series addresses five themes: Church, Scripture, Nation, Men, Women and Family, and Apocalypticism and Holy War. Each meeting brings together different perspectives to encourage critical reflection and ecumenical dialogue.
